Chad and Joe were able to join Mikey and Sammy at Sammy's annual Birthday bash for an encore of Chickenfoot tunes. This year the bash was moved to Vegas while Cabo San Lucas continues to recover from Hurricane Odile. The boys tore through Big Foot, Sexy Little Thing and Oh Yeah before Chad strapped on a guitar and let Jason Bonham take over the skins for a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Rock 'N' Roll".
There is a lot of talk in the air about the guys getting together to start work on a new album soon. As you know, Chad, Mike, Joe & Sammy have been busy touring with their own projects this year but it does look like January may be in the cards for writing and collaborating on some new music! Stay tuned - we will let you know when there is confirmed action! http://www2.gibson.com/News-Lifestyle/News/en-us/Sammy-Hagar-New-Chicken...
Don't miss this great interview with Michael Anthony on For Bass Players Only! There's more talk about another Chickenfoot album down the line and if you haven't checked out MA's hot sauce - we hear it's pretty good!
Chad Smith sat down recently with Carlos Santana for a very special video edition of his MusicRadar interview series, 'In Conversation'.
This was a two part series. Santana kept the focus on the musician who sits behind the band but who, in his view, sets the tone. Check the sessions out at the links below!
Recently Joe, Chad, and Sammy had dinner at Sammy's El Paseo restaurant and discussed the band’s status. The main challenge being trying to coordinate everyone's busy schedules! Joe said he sees “one or two” more Chickenfoot albums in the future.
Although they're not on the road or in the studio right now, each Chickenfoot member has been keeping very busy and here's an update:
Joe kicked off his Unstoppable Momentum world tour last month. He's currently working his way through Europe and will begin his North American Tour on August 29th. Additional show dates have just been announced so if you haven't already got tickets, check out his site for a show near you!
Chickenfoot is hoping to get together and make some more music in 2014.
Although they haven't played together, the guys have been seeing each other here and there over recent months.
Sammy stopped in at Skywalker Studios during Joe's recording of his new album and has commented on his hopes in this article. Joe also answered questions about getting together with Chickenfoot on a recent interview on 107.7 The Bone and Chad and Mike also recently joined Sammy in the studio to play on some tracks for him on his upcoming solo album. And of course Mike was recently on stage with Sammy at his annual Cinco De Mayo show in Tahoe.
So, the guys are busy but with Chad's time freeing up, odds are good that they'll be returning to playing music together in 2014 after Joe and Sammy's solo tours later this year.
The band and crew were saddened to hear the news of Andy Johns sudden passing on Monday, April 8, 2013. He was a true talent that will be missed by all! Each band member had a few words to share below:
